All the movies and series have created the buzz around social media sites. As a result, the investor and producer are looking at OTT platforms as a potential substitute for theater releases. Now the question is how the culture with the OTT will affect the audience?
It has two aspects; one that OTT culture arose because of Lockdown and without Lockdown.
People are not turning towards online releases because of their choices; people are watching and creating buzz around because they left with no other choice. The conventional style of going out had changed drastically. Now the watching time has no limit of 3 hours only, the audience can now watch back to back hit web series and films.
In the amount of one movie (avg. Rs.300), one can now watch videos for half a year. Subscriptions are so affordable and friendly. People can share screens with family and friends.
The OTT culture will change the style of reviewing and ratings of stars. In a recent release Gulabo Sitabo was highly appreciated and much-talked film, now if it has got theatre release, then only 30% of people were talking as many do not end up watching at theatres. And girls based series like Four More Shots and Arya of Sushmita Sen is evidence that OTT is providing all the stars an equal platform for their ideas ad work.
No doubt cinema halls popcorns and cold drinks have now turned into favorite chips and beverages. Our luxurious seats of halls are now are sofa and pillows. And watching our favorite on the big screen has now forwarded to every new movie on phone and laptop.
