We have often seen Karan Johar making jokes out of an individual’s Sexuality. Many from the Bollywood and television industry are brave enough to come out in the open and talk about their Sexuality.

The online space is filled with the Rainbow symbol, a representation of LGBTQ resistance. People are flaunting their pride. The month of June is celebrated as the Pride Month for LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer) community. The Pride parades were called off due to the outbreak of novel coronavirus in the world. But the enthusiasm of people is commendable. All over the globe, people are seen sharing their pictures with Rainbow filters and hashtags #PrideMonth and #LoveisLove.
Many celebrities are also coming out and talking about their sexuality. In Hollywood, celebs are disclosing their gender identity. Lili Reinhart, who plays Betty Copper in famous Tv show Riverdale, wrote on Instagram that she is bisexual. Other public figures had revealed their sexuality before, such as singer Miley Cyrus, singer and songwriter Tove Lo, etc.
Closer to home, many personalities of our Indian entertainment industry had been outspoken about their homosexuality.
- Vikas Gupta:
Vikas Gupta has produced shows like Warrior High and Kaise Yeh Yariyaan. Vikas Gupta was also part of a popular reality TV show Big Boss 11. On Instagram life and Twitter, he talked openly and unfolded his sexual orientation.
- Shonali Bose:
Shonali Bose is a film producer, director, and writer who has successfully directed films like ‘The Sky is Pink’, etc. Based on her self-written novel, she made a feature film ‘Amu’ which won accolades internationally. A National Award winner, she is very open about being a bisexual. Her film ‘Margarita with a Straw’ (2014) talks about same-sex relationships.
- Bobby Darling:
Bobbly Darling aka Pakhi Sharma is an Indian actress in Bollywood and regional films and was also an ex-Big Boss contestant. She was very straightforward about her sexuality at a very young age. Pakhi got married to her long-time boyfriend in 2016. She even talked about her sex-change operation in front of the media.
- Apurva Asrani:
Award-winning Filmmaker Apurva Asrani has recently disclosed his sexuality on Twitter. He is already in a relationship with musician Siddhant Pillai. Apurva has written films like ‘Aligarh’ and edited films like ‘Satya’ and ‘Citylights.’
- VJ Andy:
VJ Andy, aka Vijay Kumar, is a well-known TV host in India. He has hosted shows like ‘What’s with an Indian Women,’ Fox Traveller India, and ‘Dare 2 Date’, V channel. Andy was also a part of popular dance reality show ‘Jhalak Dikhla Jaa’ season 7. Talking about his homosexuality, he believes in breaking the tags given by society.
- Rohit Verma:
Rohit Verma is an Indian fashion designer who has come with his sexual orientation many years ago. He is a campaigner of gay rights in India. Rohit has given many outspoken comments in media about the state laws against the LGBTQ community.
Onir is a famous Tv and film producer, director, and screenwriter. He directed a critically acclaimed movie, ‘My Name, Nikhil, ‘ which showed the problems faced by same-sex couples and AIDS patients. His great works include ‘Sorry Bhai’ and ‘I am.’ The feature film ‘I am’ won National Award for the best Hindi feature film. In an interview, he said that he was openly gay.
- Rohit Bal:
Rohit Bal is another name from the fashion world who has confessed that he is gay. He has designed costumes for popular shows like ‘ Kaun Banega Crorepati.’ Rohit accepted his homosexuality a decade ago.
