OnePlus Nord Specifications
- Design & Display
OnePlus Nord comes in two shades- a statement blue color and appealing grey color. It has a metallic edging packed between gorilla glass on the front and rear.
The display measures 6.4-inches with Full HD 90Hz Fluid AMOLED panel. It weighs 184 g or 6.49 ounces.
A fingerprint scanner on the screen allows you to register your prints for security. It also supports face unlock, which can be combined with the fingerprint security feature for faster unlocking.
On the base, you will find a centralized USB 2.0 Type-C port flanked by a dual-SIM card slot and a speaker.
The left side houses the volume buttons, and the right side has the power/lock key and the alert slider. The slider lets you conveniently switch between silent, vibrate, and resonant modes.
On the back sits the quad-camera module and dual flash. There is an OnePlus logo in the middle with some text further down.
The company also claims that the OnePlus Nord does have water resistance.
On the battery front, the OnePlus Nord has a 4,115mAh power pack that supports Warp Charge 30.
With this fast charging technology and battery on board, the phone will charge up from 0% to 70% in 30 minutes.
The OnePlus Nord could compete with other models of the same range with a power-efficient Snapdragon 765G chipset, and it’s 5G support.
The Nord runs on Android 10-based OxygenOS 10.5. The company has promised to give two years (from launch date) of software updates and three years of security updates. Later this year, Android 11 will be in line and Android 12 in 2021.
The phone is available in 8GB RAM and 128GB storage or 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. However, in India, it will also come in a configuration of 6GB of RAM and 64GB of room.
The OnePlus Nord has a whopping six cameras on the handset— two front and four on the back. That’s the most cameras that the company has ever put on a phone.
The primary camera on the back is a 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor. This is complemented by a trio of other cameras- an 8MP ultrawide camera with a 119-degree field of view, a 5MP depth sensor, and a 2MP macro camera.
Flipping around to the front, it has the primary 32MP Sony IMX616 sensor, accompanied by an 8MP, 105-degree ultra-wide selfie camera.
The camera app features a bunch of shooting modes including portrait, nightscape, pro mode, panorama, super macro, filters, slow-motion video capture, and many more.
OnePlus Nord steps on its competitor’s toes
The OnePlus Nord is providing mid-range buyers with a premium product.
The Vivo X50 that was launched on July 16 has the same processor and uses a Sony IMX598 on the back camera, just like Nord.
Likewise, the Oppo Reno 4 that will launch on July 31 has similar features to the Nord in terms of the processor, display quality, and primary camera at the back.
The OnePlus Nord smartphone will challenge its competitors for a value-for-money proposition.
