Kai dard chupe h har muskurate chehre ke peeche,
Har chehre ke aage ek mukhauta hai
The suicide of Sushant Singh Rajput has once again brought into limelight the issue of Mental and Emotional well being. Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar disorder are a few common issues known to us; however, a part of the body that can create so many beautiful things can undoubtedly create many demons inside it. It is time we treat this killer as seriously as cancer.
We should celebrate people who suffered from any mental illness and emerged a winner from it. Just like a person surviving cancer is honored as a fighter, a survivor, a person emerging as a winner from a mental illness, should also be observed.
We have to change our thought process as a society. If a person says they are consulting a psychiatrist or psychologist, people laugh saying, “are you crazy.” My friend, just like heart, kidney, liver, etc. our brain is also a body part. We need to take care of it the same way we take care of the other parts of our body.
Meditation, Yoga, Hypnotherapy are some of the helpful things, but nothing works more like loving words, care, listening to someone. We never know what a person may be going through in their life, so let’s be kind to others.
I want to start a new hashtag today, #isurvivedMD. Let’s encourage people to come out and seek help rather than fear social branding. It’s not wrong to seek advice; it’s illegal not to find one.
If you know about someone who is suffering from any mental illness or you are suffering from it, please seek help. Your life is more precious than you think.
