As the ‘Bois Locker Room’ controversy rages on, it has shed light on toxic masculinity and sexual harassment even among school-going teens. Besides hogging the headlines for the unseemly text messages and images being shared on the group, the issue has opened a debate on laws related to privacy and internet security.
Recently, Mr. Jitender Sharma ( Editor-Crime & Investigation ZeeNews) shared an investigation report to his twitter account. Bois Locker Room investigation report stated that the girl used the fake ID of a person named ‘Siddharth’ and sent chat messages to fellow members in the group using a fictional identity. She also suggested in the chat, a plan to sexually assault herself. Basically it was a reality check. The purpose of her sending such chat messages using a fake, fictional identity was to check the reaction of the receiver boy and the strength of his character.
The girl was aware of the fact that the account of ‘Siddharth’ that is suggesting her sexual assault was a fake/fictional one, created by her own self, did not report it to anyone. And the police got suspicious after no one reported about the account.
The Bois Locker Room case is still under investigation and DCW had sent a second notice to Delhi Police to investigate the case a bit faster. However, the Delhi Police Cyber Cell is not happy with Instagram as Instagram did not provide full data on the police’s request.
